Audit coming up? Let's see what needs fixing.
I review your food safety system against the standard you're audited to, find the gaps that matter, and help you close them with evidence an auditor can check.
The certification decision belongs to the certification body. My job is to make sure you know what the auditor will look for and that your team can show it.

Who it's for
- You're preparing for a first SQF, BRCGS or FSSC 22000 certification audit.
- A recertification audit is booked and the system has drifted since the last one.
- An audit raised nonconformances and the corrective actions are due.
- A customer has asked you for a GFSI-benchmarked certificate.
Key finding. Allergen changeover on Line 2 relies on a visual check with no validation data.
| Ref. | Clause | Gap | Grade | Due |

| NC-015 | 11.7.3 | Cooling log not verified | Minor | 2026-11-14 |
| NC-016 | 2.4.4 | Supplier certificate expired | Minor | 2026-12-05 |
| OBS-03 | 13.1 | Training record not signed off | Observation | — |
What I can deliver
A written scope and quotation, agreed before work starts, sets which of these you need.
- Scope review: the standard, the edition and the clauses that apply to your site
- Gap register: each gap with its clause, the evidence seen and a priority
- Corrective action plan with owners and dates
- Internal audit as a rehearsal of the real one, with a written report
- Help with root cause and corrective action responses to audit findings
How the work runs
Understand
You tell me the standard, the audit date and what worries you.
Assess
Document review and a walk-through on site. Every gap is graded.
Build
We work through the corrective action plan, highest risk first.
Hand over
A final check of the evidence and a briefing for the people who will meet the auditor.
Staff training is available for every module and record. It's scoped with any follow-up verification, so you only pay for what you need.
What's required, and what's optional
Rules, certification requirements and good practice aren't the same thing. Here's how they separate for this kind of work.
- Regulation
- SFCR requirements such as licensing, preventive controls and traceability apply whether or not you're certified.
- Certification schemes
- SQF, BRCGS and FSSC 22000 are voluntary certification schemes, often required by customers. Each sets its own requirements and audit rules.
- Good practice
- Internal audits and mock recalls are expected by the major schemes and are worth doing without certification too.
- What I do
- Preparation and gap closure. I don't certify, and I don't audit on behalf of a certification body.
Common questions
How far ahead should we start?
As early as you can. Some gaps need records built up over time, such as monitoring and verification logs, and those can't be written the week before. If the date is close, we start with what an auditor is most likely to grade as major.
Do you guarantee certification?
No. Certification is the auditor's decision. I make sure your system meets the standard and that your team can show it.
Can you help after the audit?
Yes. If the audit raised nonconformances, I can help you find the root cause, write the corrective action and gather the evidence the certification body asks for.
Can the internal audit be done by video?
No. Internal audits are done on site, within Saskatoon, and charged by the hour.
